With Drake Maye having a big 2022 campaign and returning again in 2023, quarterback Jacolby Criswell made the decision to transfer out of North Carolina to find a better role.

Criswell ended up back home at Arkansas, where he will be the backup this season to K.J. Jefferson and so far in training camp, he has stood out. The quarterback has caught the eye of offensive coordinator Dan Enos. And he’s doing it with his arm talent.

Enos told reporters during camp that Criswell has elite arm talent, something that UNC staff saw when recruiting him to come to Chapel Hill. Here is what Enos said about Criswell via Razorbacks Wire:

“He’s got tremendous arm talent. Like, elite arm talent,” Enos said. “He can make throws into windows. I mean, he threw a post the other day like 60-something yards in the air into a breeze. So, he can make some of those ‘wow’ throws that a lot of guys can’t make.”

While Criswell will be the backup this season, he’s likely going to be the starter for next season as a redshirt senior. Putting together this camp has gone a long ways in that and it’s also shown the Razorbacks that they have a reliable backup in case something does happen to Jefferson this season.
