Former Texas Tech football WR Ja'Deion High named to U.S. national flag football team

Former Texas Tech football player Ja'Deion High has been selected for USA Football's U.S. Men's Flag Football National Team.

High secured one of 12 spots on the national flag football team and will represent the U.S. in international competition this summer at the Flag Football World Championships in Finland, which runs August 25-30.

A native of Hereford, High suited up for the Red Raiders from 2013 to 2018. In his final year at Tech, he was second on the team in receiving, recording career-highs of 62 catches, 804 yards and four touchdowns, which earned him a nomination for the Burlsworth Trophy, given to the top player in the nation who began their collegiate career as a walk-on.

High concluded his career with 83 catches, 1,027 yards and five touchdowns for the Red Raiders, appearing in 40 career games.

Following his collegiate career, High received an invitation to the Arizona Cardinals rookie camp before turning his attention to flag football.

The 6-foot-2 former Red Raider was one of 18 athletes invited to the national team training camp, which wrapped up Saturday. Flag football will be making its debut in the summer Olympics in 2028 in Los Angeles.

Other men's national team members include Michael Better, Aamir Brown, Velton Brown, Jr., Isaiah Calhoun, Mike Daniels, Laval Davis, Darrell "Housh" Doucette, Johnluis "LuLu" Hernandez, Jamie Kennedy, Bruce Mapp and Laderrick "Pablo" Smith.

The six not named to the national team will serve as alternates. Jorge Cascudo will serve as the head coach and Patrick Alley assistant coach for the team.
