Former Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel interviewing for Chargers job | Report

Former Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel has reportedly secured his first head coaching interview after being fired by the Titans on Jan. 9, and it's with an AFC rival that's on the Titans' schedule next season.

Vrabel was in Los Angeles on Thursday to interview with the Los Angeles Chargers for their coaching vacancy according to a report from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Vrabel joins a long list of candidates who the Chargers are considering, including big names such as Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, former NFL head coaches Steve Wilks and Leslie Frazier and up-and-coming coordinators such as Kellen Moore, Mike Macdonald and Brian Callahan.

The Titans and Chargers will play each other in Los Angeles in 2024 as a result of both teams finishing in last place in their respective divisions in 2023.

Vrabel went 54-45 in six seasons as the Titans' head coach, leading the franchise to two AFC South titles, three playoff appearances and one AFC Championship game. Vrabel was named the NFL's Coach of the Year after the 2021 season for leading the Titans to the No. 1 seed in the AFC despite setting an NFL record for most players used in a single season.

The Titans and Vrabel parted ways last week following a 6-11 season, the Titans' second consecutive losing campaign. The Titans lost 18 of their final 24 games under Vrabel.

Since firing Vrabel, the Titans have completed six interviews with potential replacements. The list of candidates the Titans have spoken to consists of: Callahan, the Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator, Macdonald, the Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator, Las Vegas Raiders interim coach Antonio Pierce, New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas Brown.
