Ex-president Trump sounds off on FSU football playoff snub as Sen. Scott demands answers

The fallout from Florida State's College Football Playoff snub continues as former players, media personalities and politicians have voiced their displeasure with the committee.

Monday morning, the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, called out the College Football Playoff committee on Truth Social, an alt-tech social media platform created by Trump.

In the post, he said FSU was "treated very badly by the committee" and called out Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for a "really bad lobby effort."

"Florida State was treated very badly by the 'committee.' They became the first Power Five team to be left out of the College Football Playoffs," Trump posted. Really bad lobbying effort...Lets blame DeSantimonious!!!"

Trump's advocation for FSU joins multiple other politicians including DeSantis, U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, U.S. Sen. Matt Gaetz, Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz and state Sen. Corey Simon.

"What we learned today is that you can go undefeated and win your conference championship game, but the College Football Playoff committee will ignore these results," DeSantis posted on Sunday. "Congratulations to @FSUFootball on an outstanding season and winning the ACC championship!"

On Monday, Scott posted on X that he submitted a letter to CFP committee chairman Boo Corrigan "demanding answers and transparency from the @CFBPlayoff Selection Committee following its unprecedented exclusion of @FSUFootball from the playoffs."

Scott's letter listed 10 different information requests from Corrigan in response which include "listing step" and "ranking step" votes from each committee member and multiple emails, texts and written communication from committee members pertaining to the final rankings.

The entirety of the letter can be read here.

FSU became the first team in the history of the College Football Playoff to go undefeated and win a conference title as a Power 5 team and failed to make the playoff.

The Seminoles will play in the Orange Bowl on Dec. 30 at 4 p.m. at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami against No. 6 Georgia.

The final rankings were as follows: No. 1 Michigan, No. 2 Washington, No. 3 Texas, No. 4 Alabama, No. 5 FSU and No. 6 Georgia.

FSU, No. 1 Michigan and No. 2 Washington are the only three teams in the country still undefeated. On Saturday, the Seminoles defeated No. 15 Louisville, 16-6, to win the ACC Championship and its 19th straight game.

The Seminoles have eight wins over bowl-eligible teams this season and won a conference championship with true freshman quarterback Brock Glenn.

Without quarterback Jordan Travis, who suffered a season-ending left leg injury against North Alabama, FSU was still able to defeat Florida on the road and Louisville in the ACC Championship.
