Which former Ohio State football players have scored a touchdown in the Super Bowl?

Many former Ohio State football players have found themselves on NFL's biggest stage.

Heading into Super Bowl LVIII Sunday between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, Nick Bosa and Chase Young will have a chance to earn their first Super Bowl rings.

But while Ohio State has had its fair share of Super Bowl appearances, even fewer have scored a touchdown in those games.

Five former OSU players have scored seven touchdowns across six Super Bowls since the game's inception in 1967 not including quarterback Joe Burrow, who threw a 75-yard touchdown to wide receiver Tee Higgins in Super Bowl LVI.

Former Ohio State players who have scored a touchdown in the Super Bowl:

RB Matt Snell

It did not take long for a former Ohio State player to score a touchdown in the Super Bowl.

In the New York Jets' 16-7 win against the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III, running back Matt Snell scored the Jets' first touchdown of the day on a 4-yard score in the second quarter.

Snell, who was a three-year starter for Ohio State on both offense and defense from 1961-63, finished with 121 rushing yards on 30 carries along with 40 receiving yards on four catches.

Snell was also the first Ohio State football player to win a Super Bowl.

TE Keith Byars

After accumulating 3,861 total yards and 48 touchdowns for Ohio State from 1982-85 — including a second-place finish in the 1984 Heisman Trophy voting — Keith Byars had to wait 11 NFL seasons to score in a Super Bowl.

Playing tight end for the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXI, Byars scored his team's first touchdown of the day in the first quarter, taking a 1-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Drew Bledsoe.

Byars finished with four catches on seven targets for 42 yards and a touchdown in the Patriots' 35-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

RB Eddie George

While the former Ohio State Heisman Trophy-winning running back did not win Super Bowl XXXIV with the Tennessee Titans, Eddie George did do something no other OSU player has done.

In the Titans' 23-16 loss to the St. Louis Rams, George became the only Ohio State player to score multiple touchdowns in the same Super Bowl, recording a 1-yard score at the end of the third quarter and a 2-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

George finished with 95 rushing yards on 28 carries while adding 35 receiving yards on two catches.

LB Mike Vrabel

Only two former Ohio State players have multiple Super Bowl touchdowns. And one of them traditionally plays defense.

Linebacker Mike Vrabel, who played for Ohio State from 1993-96, scored two touchdowns in two New England Patriots Super Bowl wins.

In the Patriots' 32-29 Super Bowl XXXVIII win against the Carolina Panthers, Vrabel scored a go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard pass from quarterback Tom Brady.

Vrabel added another touchdown reception in the Patriots' 24-21 Super Bowl XXXIX win against the Philadelphia Eagles, recording a 2-yard score from Brady in the third quarter.

WR Santonio Holmes

A former Ohio State wide receiver was at the center of one of the biggest plays in Super Bowl history.

With the Pittsburgh Steelers trailing the Arizona Cardinals by three points with less than a minutes to go in Super Bowl XLIII, Santonio Holmes, who played for the Buckeyes from 2002-05, toe tapped his way into a game-winning touchdown pass from Ben Roethlisberger, securing the 27-23 win.

Holmes' touchdown was the last of nine receptions against the Cardinals on 13 targets, bringing in 131 receiving yards.
