Former Michigan State PG A.J. Hoggard commits to Vanderbilt: Stats, more to know of Spartans transfer
Former Michigan State basketball guard A.J. Hoggard announced his transfer commitment to Vanderbilt on Saturday live on social media.
Hoggard, who played four seasons for the Spartans, started all but one game the past two seasons. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 10.7 points with 3.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game last season.

The Coatesville, Pennsylvania, native chose the Commodores over future Big Ten schools USC and Washington as well as SEC squads Georgia and Florida, after entering the transfer portal on April 27. Hoggard is also entered into the NBA draft; he has until May 29 to exit the draft and return to college.
Hoggard was an All-Big Ten honorable mention the past two seasons with the Spartans. The veteran guard joins the Commodores under first-year coach Mark Byington; Vanderbilt is aiming to return to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2016-17.

Hoggard is rated the No. 74 transfer portal prospect and No. 20 guard, according to 247 Sports' transfer portal rankings. As a high school recruit, Hoggard was the No. 81 overall recruit in the nation, including the No. 11 combo guard and No. 2 player from the state of Pennsylvania in the 2020 class.
