Bralyn Lux, who ascended rapidly from walk-on cornerback at Fresno State to starting 22 games the past three seasons, announced Saturday he's committed to Texas Tech as a transfer.

Lux, listed by Fresno State as 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds, has been credited in 27 career games with 85 tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and 15 pass breakups.

Tech returns a pair of experienced starting cornerbacks in Rayshad Williams and Malik Dunlap, but Williams underwent surgery in late April for a sports hernia and isn't expected to be a full participant again until preseason practice begins in August. Red Raiders players return Monday for the start of summer workouts.

On the post-spring depth chart Joey McGuire provided earlier this month, the Tech coach said the three-deep at corner consists of Williams and redshirt freshman Maurion Horn on one side, Dunlap and sophomore Nate Floyd on the other and first-semester freshman Jordan Sanford third at both.

Lux walked on at Fresno State in 2019 out of Sunnyvale (Calif.) The King's Academy. During the Covid-shortened 2020 season when Fresno State played only six games, Lux was credited with a team-high 30 tackles, as well as an interception, four pass breakups, one caused fumble, one fumble recovery and a tackle for loss.

He was one of 67 nominees that season for the Burlsworth Trophy, which is presented annually to the top college football player who began his career as a walk-on. He was placed on scholarship after that season.

Lux made eight starts in 13 games in 2021. He started another eight games again last season and missed the other games with an undisclosed injury.
