Former Bruins Defender Leaves New Team

Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin announced today (Oct. 17) that former Boston Bruins defenseman Derek Forbort has left the Pacific Division club for "personal reasons."

The Canucks did not provide any other details on the matter and did not specify how long Forbort would specifically be away from the team.

Forbort, 32, signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Canucks during this past off-season. This was after the 6-foot-4 defenseman spent the last three seasons with the Bruins. In three games with the Canucks, Forbort has one assist and a minus-1 rating.

In 165 games with the Bruins, Forbort had nine goals, 30 points, 307 hits, and a plus-22 rating.
