Florida State men's basketball adds VCU SF from transfer portal, second addition
For the second straight day, the Florida State men's basketball team added a player from the NCAA Transfer Portal.
VCU forward Jamir Watkins announced his intention to transfer to the Seminoles, joining La Salle shooting guard transfer Josh Nickelberry on Friday.
Watkins, a rising redshirt junior, visited FSU on Friday and Saturday and committed.
The 6-foot-7 small forward averaged 9.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game in 2022-23 for the Rams while shooting 41.3% from the field and 34% from 3-point range.

Watkins led VCU to an overall record of 27-8 and a first-place finish in the A10.
He also visited Arkansas and Penn State prior to his visit to FSU.
Watkins will have two years of eligibility with the Seminoles.
On Friday, forward Baba Miller announced his decision to return to FSU for his sophomore season. The Seminoles have lost two guards in the transfer portal leading scorer Matthew Cleveland and Caleb Mills.
Head coach Leonard Hamilton has said he wants to add three-to-four players from the transfer portal, as the program looks to rebuild from a historically bad season for its standards.
Florida State is coming off its worst season in program history, going 9-23 and finishing with a program-low seven wins in ACC play.
