Florida State football: Seminole running back Treshaun Ward enters transfer portal
The crowded Florida State running back room just lost one of its most productive players.
Treshaun Ward, who entered this past season as the Seminoles’ top option in a three-man running back rotation, put his name into the transfer portal Tuesday.
The Plant City native arrived at FSU via the 2019 recruiting class, joining the team as a walk-on after turning down multiple Division I scholarship offers. The Seminoles put him on scholarship before the 2021 season, which is when his role started to significantly increase.

The 5-foot-10, 192-pound Ward (95 carries, 628 yards, seven touchdowns in 10 games) ranked second on the team in rushing this past season, trailing only Trey Benson (154 carries, 990 yards, nine touchdowns in 13 games).
Ward led FSU in rushing in four of its first five games this season before suffering an apparent collarbone injury at NC State on Oct. 8. He then missed three games, returning against Syracuse on No. 12 and playing the rest of the season.
Without Ward, the Seminoles leaned on Benson. The first-year Oregon transfer permanently earned himself the lead role, topping the team in rushing in six straight games. Ward led FSU with 81 rushing yards, though, in its 35-32 win over Oklahoma in the Cheez-It Bowl last Thursday.
The Seminoles now project to have five scholarship running backs next season: redshirt juniors Lawrance Toafili, Caziah Holmes and Benson, redshirt freshman Rodney Hill, and incoming freshman Samuel Singleton.
Walk-on CJ Campbell and athletes Ja’Khi Douglas and Joshua Burrell also contribute to FSU’s running back room.
Would like to thank @9mxvi_ for the incredible impact he has made here at FSU and the #NoleFamily From walk on to a Star, I’m grateful for every moment. Has a wonderful future in front of him and I know he will continue to #WORK #KeepCLIMBing 🤝
