Florida State football recruiting: Uncommitted in-state DB Edwin Joseph signs with Seminoles
Florida State just signed its first uncommitted recruit of the 2023 class.
Edwin Joseph, a defensive back from Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep, announced in a ceremony Wednesday that he is signing with the Seminoles.
Recruiting services list Joseph – a two-way player at receiver and cornerback – as an athlete. Rivals (No. 11 athlete, unranked overall) and On3 (No. 12 athlete, No. 362 overall) give Joseph four-star recognition, while 247Sports (No. 24 athlete, unranked overall) considers him to be a three-star recruit.

For much of his recruitment, the 6-foot, 180-pound Joseph received interest as a receiver. He then started playing cornerback this past summer and impressed, which prompted several of the nation’s top programs to pursue him at that position.
Joseph landed a scholarship from FSU near the beginning of his senior season, on Sept. 6. He also reported offers from Miami (Sept. 5), Louisville (Sept. 6), Auburn (Sept. 25), South Carolina (Sept. 26), Michigan (Oct. 12) and Oklahoma (Oct. 31) during the season.
The Seminole coaching staff developed a relationship with Joseph early in the process, hosting him for an unofficial visit on March 5. He took two more unofficial visits to FSU for its home games against Clemson (Oct. 15) and Georgia Tech (Oct. 29).
Earlier this month, the Seminoles brought Joseph in on an official visit (Dec. 9-11). Auburn (Nov. 11-13), South Carolina (Nov. 18-20) and Louisville (Nov. 4-6, Dec. 16-18) also hosted Joseph on recruiting visits within the last couple months.
Per MaxPreps, Joseph recorded 19 tackles, two tackles for a loss, two interceptions and nine passes defended while catching 40 passes for 661 yards and eight touchdowns across 13 games this season.

Where does FSU stand with the rest of its class?
The Seminoles have announced that 13 of their 15 verbal commits have signed.
The two remaining pledges, four-star defensive end Keldric Faulk (noon) and five-star wide receiver Hykeem Williams (1 p.m.), plan to announce their signing decisions soon.
Faulk committed to FSU on July 5 but has been wavering on that decision. The Highland Home (Ala.) High product has visited Auburn multiple times, including a Sunday trip that surprised the recruiting world.
Williams is expected announce his signing to the Seminoles.
Two of FSU’s other uncommitted targets – Key West (Fla.) High offensive lineman Christopher Otto (noon) and Fort Lauderdale (Fla). American Heritage cornerback Damari Brown (3 p.m. on ESPN) – are expected to announce their signing decisions Wednesday.
The Seminoles are looking to flip and sign multiple recruits who are pledged to other schools, including linebacker Kamren Robinson (Virginia) and safety Conrad Hussey (Penn State).
