Florida State baseball announces time, date for former coach Mike Martin memorial service
Florida State will host a memorial service for former baseball coach Mike Martin at noon Saturday, February 10 on Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium.
More details will be provided as they become available, with plans being finalized early next week.
The day is also Fan Day for the baseball team, a nine-man scrimmage and autographs with the players afterward. The scrimmage is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
Martin died Thursday less than three years after being diagnosed with Lewy body dementia. He was 79.
Martin is synonymous with FSU baseball over 47 years as a player, assistant coach and head coach, elevating the program into a national powerhouse and perennial contender despite never winning the College World Series.
FSU fans, rivals and members of the college baseball community took to social media to pay their respects to Martin. Fans are also encouraged to leave their tributes to Martin at the south gate of Dick Howser Stadium.
