Flames Activate Yegor Sharangovich from IR, Set for Season Debut Against Jets

According to the team's social media account, the Calgary Flames have activated forward Yegor Sharangovich off injured reserve. The feeling is he'll be ready to play Saturday night as the Flames take on the Winnipeg Jets, marking a significant boost as they aim to rebound after their first regulation loss of the season.

Sharangovich, who missed the opening games due to a lower-body injury, is expected to return to action tonight. The 26-year-old forward signed a five-year, $28.75 million contract in the offseason after leading the Flames with 31 goals and 59 points last season. His scoring presence and skillset will certainly help as the Flames look to rebound from a 4-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday.

Sharangovich and fellow injured forward Sam Honzek were both spotted practicing in regular jerseys this week, suggesting Honzek's return may also be imminent. Sharangovich is the first to make it back into the lineup, arguably the bigger difference-maker of the two.

While the Flames’ lineup for tonight has yet to be confirmed, Sharangovich’s scoring will be helpful as Calgary takes on the only remaining undefeated team in the NHL. Calgary recently welcomed Kevin Rooney back on Thursday, and they've gotten off to a strong start. If they can beat the Jets, there will be no doubt this Flames team is for real.

With key players coming back to full health, the Flames look poised to regain momentum and re-establish their early season success.

The Flames play the Jets at 5 PM MT. Mark Scheifele leads the Jets with five goals and 10 points. Rasmus Andersson leads the Flames with nine points. The Jets are 5-0-0 on the season. The Flames rank 10th in the NHL for goals per game. Sharangovich should help in that regard.
