A handful of Volusia-Flagler's high school teams get a taste of tournament soccer before the postseason starts at the end of the month.

The Five Star Conference's boys and girls soccer tournaments kick off at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex. Semifinals will take place Tuesday evening, and the event wraps up with championship games Thursday.

Each tournament features the top eight Five Star teams, based upon the Florida High School Athletic Association's rankings. Seabreeze's girls and New Smyrna Beach's boys, the defending champions, are both seeded No. 1 in their respective brackets.

Seabreeze's girls (4-5-1) are unbeaten locally, sandwiching wins over Flagler Palm Coast and Spruce Creek around a 1-1 draw against second-seeded New Smyrna Beach. The Barracudas' boys boast a 16-1-1 record overall, but Spruce Creek pulled off a 2-1 victory in their last meeting Dec. 27.
