First lady Jill Biden wants women's champion LSU and runner-up Iowa to come to the White House

When sports teams win titles, they usually get invited to come to celebrate their championships at the White House.

There might be two teams coming to see the President soon.

First lady Jill Biden said she wants the Iowa women’s basketball team who lost to LSU in the national championship game to also come to the White House.

Biden was in attendance Sunday in Dallas when LSU beat Iowa 102-85 for the school's first national title.

"I know we’ll have the champions come to the White House, we always do. So, we hope LSU will come,” Biden said. “But, you know, I’m going to tell Joe I think Iowa should come, too, because they played such a good game.”

LSU head coach Kim Mulkey, who won her fourth career national title following three with Baylor, already said she would accept if invited.

LSU star Angel Reese, who had 15 points and 10 rebounds in the title game and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four, had a different reaction, tweeting "A JOKE" when word got to her about what Biden said.

"It was so exciting, wasn’t it,” Biden said. “It was such a great game. I’m old enough that I remember when we got Title IX. We fought so hard, right? We fought so hard. And look at where women’s sports have come today.”

The Golden State Warriors were the last team to go to the White House, making the trip in January after their six-game victory over the Boston Celtics in the NBA FInals. The Celtics were not in attendance for that celebration.
