Fever's Caitlin Clark gets poked in first quarter, develops black eye, shoots poorly
UNCASVILLE, Conn -- Fever star Caitlin Clark is developing a black eye in her first playoff game.
Just 90 seconds into the game, Clark fell to the ground after she was poked in the eye by Sun guard DiJonai Carrington, grabbing her face in obvious pain. The poke was not called a foul, as play continued on the other side of the court. The Fever called a timeout when they got possession back, and her teammates ran to help her up and off the court.
Clark didn't leave the game; she went back to the bench for a quick moment, then collected herself and continued playing.
"Obviously, she got me pretty good in the eye," Clark said. "I don’t think it affected me. I got good shots, they didn’t go down. It's a tough time for that to happen. Had three wide open in first half that I usually make. It didn’t feel good when it happened but I don’t think it affected me."

By halftime, the ABC broadcast showed Clark developing a black eye. It was starting to swell, too.
The injury could have been the reason she struggled form the field in the first half; she went 0-of-6 from 3-point range and 1-of-9 from the field for just three points by halftime.
