Fantasy Baseball: What to know from Tuesday's MLB action
Important fantasy notes from Tuesday's MLB action
• After Kenley Jansen went on the IL earlier in the day with a recurrence of an irregular heartbeat, A.J. Minter recorded Atlanta’s save Tuesday night. He’s outpitched Will Smith this season, posting a 1.64 ERA and a 0.79 WHIP with a 44:5 K:BB ratio over 33.0 innings. Minter is going to have a ton of fantasy upside while closing for the Braves, and he’s available in 70 percent of Yahoo leagues.
• Brandon Woodruff made a successful return Tuesday, recording a 10:0 K:BB ratio over five innings. His fastball and sinker were both up nearly 2 mph, and Woodruff recorded a strong 39% CSW with 17 swing-and-misses, so his arm appears to have benefitted from the month off while dealing with an ankle injury.
• Frankie Montas held the Yankees’ MLB-best offense to just two runs over seven innings in New York on Tuesday but fell to 3-8 on the season. Montas has a 3.20 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP this year but has recorded just one win over his last 13 starts. No player in fantasy baseball may benefit more from the trade deadline.
• With Tanner Houck unavailable Tuesday in Toronto, Boston blew a save, with Jordan Romano picking up a win as a result. Romano’s weird splits continued, as he’s now 2-0 with 12 saves, a 0.00 ERA and a 0.70 WHIP at home this season; he’s 0-2 with five saves (three blown), a 7.15 ERA and a 2.03 WHIP on the road.
• Jakob Junis tossed a bullpen session Tuesday and is getting closer to a return from a strained hamstring. Junis is available in more than 80% of Yahoo leagues despite owning a 2.63 ERA, a 0.96 WHIP and a CSW% that ranks behind only Shane McClanahan, Corbin Burnes, Joe Musgrove, Gerrit Cole, Dylan Cease and Shane Bieber.
• Domingo Germán had another impressive rehab outing Tuesday and can be added in deeper fantasy leagues. While the Yankees pitching staff doesn’t exactly have a glaring hole, rotation spots tend to inevitably open for one reason or another (and pitching for New York is a huge help in racking up wins). Germán had impressive peripherals last season and remains available in 98% of Yahoo leagues.

• Luis Arraez had another three hits during Tuesday’s doubleheader and is leading MLB by batting .344 during a season in which the league BA (.242) is the lowest in the history of baseball. Arraez, who went undrafted in most fantasy leagues, is eligible at a whopping four positions, sports a ridiculous 22:33 K:BB ratio this season and looks poised to win the batting title.
• Mike Trout clubbed his 23rd homer of the year Tuesday, as his remarkable season continues. The 30-year-old has a career-worst K% yet a career-best wRC+ while sporting the highest launch angle among all hitters in 2022. Even with his real injury risk and without a single stolen base attempt all year, Trout would be a top-five fantasy pick in a draft held today.
