FAMU Athletics names Capri Howard as bowling head coach
TALLAHASSEE ― Florida A&M's Vice President & Director of Athletics Tiffani-Dawn Sykes named Capri Howard as the women's bowling head coach, announced Friday, August 11, 2023.
"I am thrilled to welcome Coach Howard to the Highest of Seven Hills as the Head Coach of FAMU Bowling," said Sykes. "With her background as a former SWAC student-athlete and NCAA Division I coach, she is well-equipped for this role. Her expertise, vitality, and genuine passion for the sport, along with her dedication to HBCUs, truly set her apart from a strong field of applicants. I eagerly anticipate providing my support to Coach Howard and the Rattler Bowling Team in their quest for FAMU's first-ever SWAC Championship."
"I am excited to embark on this journey with the athletes at Florida A&M University," said Howard. "I plan to instill the values of hard work and discipline. As a former SWAC bowler, I understand the importance of excellence on and off the lanes. I am excited to contribute to the development of the ladies and create new heights for the program."
At Jackson State University, Howard showcased exceptional talent and leadership as a bowling team member from 2017 to 2021. Her outstanding performance earned her the honor of being a four-time All-SWAC Team member, and she played a crucial role in the team's success with three SWAC Championship appearances.
Following her successful undergraduate journey, Capri Howard continued to pursue her passion for bowling and education. She is pursuing a Master of Science in Digital Media from Valparaiso University, with a projected graduation date of May 2024. While at Valparaiso University, she served as a graduate assistant for the bowling team, and they broke the team series record this season.
Coach Howard's official start date is set for August 28, 2023.
