Family ties: One of FSU's two backup quarterbacks for Orange Bowl vs. UGA a legacy to FSU

When Florida State released its depth chart earlier this week for Saturday's Orange Bowl against No. 6 Georgia, many eyes went straight to quarterbacks.

  1. No. 11 Brock Glenn, freshman

  2. No. 16 Dylan McNamara, redshirt freshman

  3. No. 12 Michael Grant, freshman

The No. 5 undefeated Seminoles (13-0) will be led against the Bulldogs (12-1) by Glenn, who will be making his second consecutive start at a position that has turned into a revolving door due to multiple factors.

The experience behind an inexperienced Glenn is green and green.

Gameday updates: FSU football plays for undefeated season vs. Georgia in Orange Bowl

Both players are walk-ons and neither McNamara, from Naples, nor Grant, from Tallahassee, has played this season.

Grant, a former multi-sport star at Maclay, has very cool family ties to the Seminoles - his father played golf at FSU, for instance.

But first, here's a quick recap of the moves at quarterback and then the bios of McNamara and Grant.

FSU will be thin & inexperienced at QB against Georgia in Orange Bowl

FSU, of course, has been without star quarterback Jordan Travis since last month, when he suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Seminoles’ home finale against North Alabama.

Travis traveled with the team to South Florida and has been visible at practice.

Redshirt junior Tate Rodemaker stepped in for Travis, starting in the victory at Florida. Rodemaker, however, suffered a head injury late in the game and, though he returned, was ruled out of the ACC Championship against Louisville.

Glenn stepped in, playing well at times, and led the Seminoles to the victory. He was backed up by A.J. Duffy, who started the season at fourth string, entered the transfer portal following the game and signed with San Diego State.

While Rodemaker was cleared medically for the bowl game and practiced with the team leading into the Christmas break last weekend, the Seminoles learned shortly before boarding their flight to South Florida that he had decided to opt out and enter the transfer portal.

That left Glenn, McNamara and Grant on the three-player depth chart at quarterback.

McNamara is a redshirt freshman from Naples Barron Collier.

Grant, meanwhile, is a legacy to FSU.

In addition to his father playing golf at FSU, his grandfather Don played on the Seminoles' first two football teams in 1947 and 1948.
