Falcons Twitter reacts to sloppy Week 1 loss to the Steelers
The Atlanta Falcons (0-1) managed just 10 points in Sunday's season-opening loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0). While the defense didn't have its best day, the offense let the team down most as they couldn't outscore Steelers kicker Chris Boswell.
Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins was rocky in his team debut, passing for 155 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions for a passer rating of 59.0. Cousins didn't look all that sturdy in the pocket and made some questionable throws throughout the game. Atlanta's offensive line struggled to stop Pittsburgh's pass rush and had no answer for T.J. Watt.
Overall, the team was sloppy and didn't make enough plays to overcome the scrappy Steelers on Sunday. As you would expect, Falcons fans on Twitter weren't feeling very good following the team's 18-10 loss to Arthur Smith and the Steelers.
Falcons Twitter Reactions
Shout out the Falcons for shutting down all expectations week 1. No need to waste all that time with false hope, gotta respect it

We got beat by a damn kicker

There’s going to be a lot of crying, which is expected with this fan base. However, here is some reality.
1) I didn’t agree with Morris not playing his starters, especially on offense, in the preseason. Cousins missed quite a bit of time with an Achilles injury, and the rust,…— Ev Glaze (@Everett_G07) September 8, 2024
alright Kirk you can get this back at the end of the season pic.twitter.com/YTCUDai1m0

Nobody wants to hear it, but the Falcons lost Week 1 in 2016.
They started 5-0 in 2015.
They started 2-0 last year.
It’s a long season, the early games are not indicative of the entire season.

I hate twitter on days like today.. the Falcons weren’t good but it’s like it becomes a contest to try to see who can overreact the most.
It’s week 1 folks… calm down. TJ Watt is the best defender in the league. Some folks act like they lost by 8 TDs instead of 8 points.— Mike Johnson (@MPJohnson79) September 8, 2024
That has to be one of the most disappointing opening games in Falcons history. A lot of questions have to be asked about Cousins. He couldn't have looked more uncomfortable and rattled. The coaching staff will be critiqued as well for lack of adjustments/plan for containing Watt.

And that's it. The Steelers only managed six field goals on the day, but the Falcons only scored 10 points and were beyond awful in the second half on offense, losing 18-10.
About as terrible a start to a new era as you could ask for in Atlanta— The Falcoholic (@TheFalcoholic) September 8, 2024
The Falcons only had 51 total yards in the second half. Turnovers and an inability to convert on third down will do that to you.

Falcons head coach Raheem Morris: "I like winning, and that wasn't the result today."

I’m sorry but I’m gonna say the same thing I said when we signed him. I have never been a Kirk Cousins fan. I’m trying my hardest to support him, but I don’t see what he does special. pic.twitter.com/rY7GI08qjK
