‘Excuses don’t win’: Myles Garrett’s injuries add to Browns’ woes
CLEVELAND (AP/WJW) — Browns All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett will undergo an MRI on his foot Monday after an injury that bothered him for long stretches of Cleveland’s 21-15 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday.

Garrett had to be helped off the field at one point of the fourth quarter. On Friday, the NFL’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year revealed he’s dealing with injuries to both feet but didn’t say exactly what was wrong.

Garrett grabbed his right foot during the game, and he was limping following several plays. The 28-year-old said he’s dealing with multiple issues in both of his legs as he’s trying to compensate for the foot injuries.
After the Browns lost at home for the second time in three weeks, Garrett limped out of the locker room and was driven in a cart outside Huntington Bank Field. Garrett’s father stopped to briefly to talk to him on his way out.
“A whole lot of things going on,” Garrett said when asked about his feet. “It’s part of the game. I’m not gonna make excuses. Excuses don’t win this game.”
But Garrett said he plans to keep playing.
“At this point, I’m going to continue to move as I have and look forward to playing the next game until someone tells me otherwise,” he told reporters.
In addition to Garrett being hurt, the Browns lost three offensive linemen to injuries: right guard Wyatt Teller (knee), left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. (knee) and backup tackle James Hudson III (shoulder).

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said all three would undergo imaging tests. Wills made his 2024 debut after undergoing knee surgery in December.
Following the game, Stefanski was clear the end result of the game was not acceptable.
“Obviously very, very disappointed to play like we did and not be able to put ourselves in position to play good enough to win,” he said. “So, I got to get it fixed. It’s really disappointing on a bunch of different levels. I know we can be better, and we will be.”
Other than the fumble on the opening kickoff, the Giants dominated the first half, with the Browns waking up a bit in the second half. New York’s defense kept the pressure on Watson, sacking him over and over.
