Ex-Oilers Enforcer Tries To Spark New Team
EDMONTON -- Sometimes, a little fight is all a team needs.
At least, that was true for the Edmonton Oilers when they recently played the Philadelphia Flyers and Nashville Predators. In those games, Troy Stecher, Corey Perry, and Darnell Nurse answered the bell to fire up their teammates.

In the case of Nurse, he went toe-to-toe with Michael McCarron.
McCarron is not an easy sparring partner. The 6-foot-6 and 232 lbs winger is no stranger to dropping the gloves and letting the fisticuffs fly. Last season he recorded eight fights.
Just over a week later, McCarron found himself in another scrap, this time with a former Oilers forward, Pat Maroon.
Maroon is also familiar with standing up for teammates and on-ice tilts, having been in six fights last year and 12 the season before. Their fight was Maroon's first of the year and McCarron's second.
The Blackhawks would go on to lose the game, but it wasn't because of Maroon's effort. The Nashville Predators would have three unanswered goals to overtake their opponents 3-2. They drop to 2-5-1 with five points on the season.

Maroon finished the game with 8:31 of time on ice, with one hit and one 5-minute major penalty. He has one point in seven games while playing for just under 12 minutes per game.
The Oilers seem to have that spark, as they defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins last night, with Nurse adding another fight to his catalog. Could this Maroon fight be what the Blackhawks need to turn around this three-game losing skid?
