Former Boston Bruins defenseman Mike Reilly left the New York Islanders' matchup on Friday night (Nov. 1) early after receiving a big hit from Buffalo Sabres forward Jordan Greenway.

Greenway threw a hard hit, and Reilly fell on his head. Following the hit, Islanders teammate Bo Horvat waived for the trainers to come out. In addition, the stretcher was brought onto the ice, but Reilly was able to get off the ice on his feet with the help of teammates Anders Lee and Kyle Palmieri.

Greenway was initially given a five-minute major, but the call was taken back after the play was reviewed.

This is certainly a scary moment for the Reilly, but it certainly was encouraging to see him be able to get off the ice without a stretcher. Here's to hoping that the former Bruin has a speedy recovery from here.
