Eagles fine — but do not cut — DeSean Jackson for sharing anti-Semitic fake Adolf Hitler quote
The Philadelphia Eagles want their fans to know they “do not tolerate hate towards any individual or group.” The team released a statement Friday, announcing it had punished wide receiver DeSean Jackson for sharing an anti-Semitic quote on Instagram.
The Eagles stressed they believed in “equality for all races, ethnicities and faiths.” They added they’ve had “constructive conversations” with Jackson.

The Eagles said they “penalized DeSean for conduct detrimental to the team,” which means the team fined him for his actions. The team did not announce the amount.
On Monday, Jackson shared an anti-Semitic fake Adolf Hitler quote. The Eagles condemned Jackson’s actions, and said he would apologize and use his platform to promote unity.
Jackson, 33, apologized multiple times Tuesday. In his second apology, Jackson said he would work with local and national organizations to be more informed. Jackson followed up on that Thursday, meeting with a group against anti-Semitism. Jackson also reportedly met with a 94-year-old Holocaust survivor on Friday.
In Friday’s statement, the Eagles said they were encouraged by Jackson’s “desire to educate himself,” but added “there is still a lot of work to be done.”
In the wake of Jackson’s comments, some have called for the Eagles to cut Jackson. The Eagles didn’t take that step Friday, but made it clear they expect Jackson to do more to remedy the situation.
