Duke will be without quarterback Daniel Jones for a while.

The school announced Sunday that Jones had undergone surgery to repair a fractured left clavicle and is out indefinitely. Jones left Duke’s win Saturday against Northwestern in the second half with his left (non-throwing) arm dangling motionless as he walked from the sideline to the locker room.

Jones has been very good as the Blue Devils beat Army and the Wildcats in the first two weeks of the season. He’s 29-39 passing for 389 yards and four touchdowns and has rushed for 40 yards and a score. He was replaced against Northwestern by Quentin Harris. Harris completed both the passes he threw for 12 yards.

Jones’ absence means Duke will probably lean more on Deon Jackson and Brittain Brown in the running game.

The team also announced that cornerback Mark Gilbert would be out for the season because of hip surgery. Gilbert suffered a left hip injury against Northwestern.

Duke plays Baylor in Week 3. The Bears are also 2-0.
