Drew Brees and wife Brittany donate $5M to build healthcare centers in Louisiana
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, and his wife Brittany, are giving back to Louisiana. Brittany and Drew announced Monday that they are donating $5 million to help build healthcare centers in the state.
The Breeses announced the donation in an Instagram video:
Drew begins the video talking about how the pandemic has made it clear health and wellness should be the biggest priority in the United States. He says the $5 million donation will go toward building “community health centers in underserved communities throughout the great state of Louisiana.” In the Instagram post, Brees says the first of the new centers will come to New Orleans East “later this year.”
Drew Brees among those upset about NFL’s coronavirus protocols
The 41-year-old Brees was among the many NFL players who tweeted frustration over the NFL’s lack of a safety plan amid the pandemic. With the NFLPA and the league coming to a last-minute agreement, Brees is expected to play for the Saints in 2020.
Once in camp, Brees may have to once again address comments he made earlier in the offseason regarding players protesting by kneeling during the national anthem.
