Draymond Green reacts to trade rumors
On January 11, Shams Charania reported that the Golden State Warriors were willing to discuss potential trades for everyone on their roster except Steph Curry. The Warriors willingness to explore their options comes after a difficult first half of the season. They’ve been unable to string together multiple wins, and currently lack a genuine identity on either side of the floor.
During a recent episode of the “Draymond Green Show” podcast, the veteran forward shared his thoughts to his name potentially being floated in trade discussions. Draymond Green admitted that he wouldn’t be able to question the Warriors decision due to their current record and standing in the Western Conference.
“If that (trade) ever came to fruition, you deal with that, you cross that bridge when you get there,” Green said. “It’s not really something that I worry about. I know everybody’s saying, ‘Oh, the Warriors gotta make a trade, they’re gonna make a trade.’ I mean if you’re 18-22, how can you question anything someone does?”
Green has recently returned to the rotation following a 16-game absence. He missed 12 games due to an indefinite suspension, and a further four games as he worked himself back to game fitness. Steve Kerr will now be hoping Green’s return will help the Warriors re-discover their defensive intensity, so that they can begin climbing back up the conference standings.
Golden State has only had Green available in 16 games this season. He has been suspended twice, and has missed games due to injury. With him back in the rotation, the Warriors should quickly begin playing with a greater edge. Still, a trade might be the only way to galvanize the imbalanced roster.
