Former North Carolina Tar Heels' quarterback Drake Maye still has a ways to go before becoming the starter for the New England Patriots, only getting one series in his first preseason game. But things are starting to look up for the No. 3 overall pick.

With the Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles having joint practices, Maye got off to a fast start on Tuesday morning. The quarterback was perfect in the first 7-on-7 drills and then impressed for almost all of the practice.

Maye did end the practice by being "sacked" five times in an ugly 11-on-11 drill but overall, it was a good day for the quarterback who is still working with the second team.

The Patriots and Eagles will battle in the next preseason game, giving Maye another chance to improve his chances as being the starter. If he keeps up practices like this, he could make up a lot of ground.
