The 2024 college football season is almost here, which means it is time to get ready to root for your Tennessee Volunteers as they prepare for the first year with the expanded College Football Playoff field. The Vols are seeking their first trip to the CFP.
The season begins with in-state foe Chattanooga on Aug. 31 before traveling to Charlotte to take on the ACC’s North Carolina State Wolfpack. The Vols will get a tuneup on Sept. 14 against Kent State before opening up SEC play against Josh Heupel’s former team, the Oklahoma Sooners.
Following an open week, Tennessee heads back on the road to Fayetteville to face off with the Arkansas Razorbacks. Could they put all the pressure on Sam Pittman in a hot seat year? The Vols then host both the Florida Gators and Alabama Crimson Tide in back-to-back weeks. November opens with two more home matchups before heading to Athens for a date with the Georgia Bulldogs on Nov. 16.
The regular season comes to a close with the final nonconference matchup as UTEP comes to town. The Vols close the season in Nashville against the Vanderbilt Commodores.
