Donte DiVincenzo sends parting message to Warriors fans
Donte DiVincenzo became a fan favorite during his tenure with the Golden State Warriors. While not the most skilled guard, DiVincenzo plays with heart and hustle and always fights on every possession.
Unfortunately, the Warriors were unable to keep hold of DiVincenzo, as the impressive guard joined the New York Knicks on a four-year $50 million deal.
New York has done a solid job of adding gritty talent in recent years, with Josh Hart being a huge addition to their team around the February 9 trade deadline.
As such, it’s clear that DiVincenzo will slot straight into what the Knicks are doing. For Golden State, losing DiVincenzo – a key rotation player – will be a big loss, not only for their perimeter defense but also in regards to having a secondary creator and scorer who can both start and come off the bench.
Despite only being with the Warriors for one season, DiVincenzo has still taken the time to send a parting message to the fanbase. On July 13, the 26-year-old guard posted a goodbye message to his Instagram account.
“GSW family, From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!! Much love, #0,” DiVincenzo’s message read.
In his lone season with the Warriors, DiVincenzo participated in 72 regular-season games, starting 36 of them. During those games, the former first-round draft pick averaged 9.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, shooting 43.5% from the field and 39.7% from 3-point range.
DiVincenzo will certainly be a big loss to the Warriors next season. However, the additions of Chris Paul and Cory Joseph will certainly soften the blow as the Warriors put their faith in veteran leadership and on-court experience. Golden State will now begin to turn their attention toward training camp and the upcoming season, where they will be hoping to contend for another championship ring.
