Texas Tech football has been nothing if thrilling this season.

The Red Raiders (5-1, 3-0 Big 12) have racked up five wins through the first six weeks of the 2024 college football season but always seem to be in thrilling finishes. Tech opened the season with a 52-51 overtime win against Abilene Christian and has the flare for the dramatics since.

Tech lost its Week 2 matchup against Washington State 37-16 and blew out North Texas 66-21 in Week 3. However, since then, the Red Raiders have played nothing but close games. Texas Tech has three straight one-possession wins over Arizona State (30-22), Cincinnati (44-41), and Arizona (28-22).

Behren Morton has completed 139 of 221 passes (62.9%) for 1,640 yards, 14 touchdowns and two interceptions to lead the Red Raider offense. Tahj Brooks leads the rushing attack with 124 carries for 679 yards and seven touchdowns, while Josh Kelly leads the receivers with 44 catches for 514 yards and three touchdowns.

Does Texas Tech football play today?

No, Texas Tech football does not play this week, as it will observe one of its two bye weeks during Week 7 of the 2024 college football season.

Tech returns to action in Week 8 at home against Baylor for a Big 12 matchup on Oct. 19. The following week, the Red Raiders play another in-state game against TCU on the road. Texas Tech will play four more games before its next scheduled bye week on Nov. 16 before closing the season with two conference games.
