Report: Doc Rivers to meet with 76ers about coaching job
Doc Rivers will meet with the Philadelphia 76ers about their open coaching position, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported.

Rivers, 58, mutually parted ways with the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday following the team’s loss in the Western Conference semifinals earlier this month. The 76ers were reportedly one of the teams that immediately reached out to the veteran coach following the sudden news. The other was the New Orleans Pelicans.
Rivers to meet in Philadelphia
The 76ers fired coach Brett Brown late in August, one day after the Celtic swept the team out of the first round of the playoffs. He’d been with the team for seven seasons. League sources told Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes that Brown had never grabbed full control of the locker room and his gameplan was often questioned.
The 76ers are a desired landing spot for a coach with 26-year-old Joel Embiid and 24-year-old Ben Simmons on the roster. The front office is also reportedly interested in speaking with Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue.
Rivers led Clippers to postseason nearly every year
Rivers coached the Clippers for seven seasons and had a 356-208 overall record. They reached the postseason every year but one, though they never made it out of the semifinals.
While in the NBA bubble at Disney World, the team blew a 3-1 series lead to the Denver Nuggets and took an early exit from the postseason.
He coached the Orlando Magic for five seasons and the Boston Celtics for nine. He won an NBA title in 2008 with Boston.
