Did Missouri football keep spot in national polls after Alabama loss? Where MU is ranked

The Tigers are clinging on in the coaches poll.

Missouri football remained inside the top 25 of the US LBM Coaches Poll despite being shut out by Alabama, 34-0, on the road Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Tigers dropped six spots in the coaches poll to the No. 23 mark in the country, which is their lowest ranking of the season.

Mizzou played most of its game against the Crimson Tide without starting quarterback Brady Cook, who left the game with an “upper body” injury — a different reason than the high-ankle sprain that made him a game-time decision for the game in Tuscaloosa.

Drew Pyne threw three picks in his relief appearance, and the Tigers took their second blowout loss on the road of the season, seemingly ending any possibility of making the College Football Playoff.

Alabama was only bumped up one spot in the polls for the win, climbing to No. 14.

Oregon held on to the top spot, with Georgia, Penn State, Ohio State and Miami rounding out the top five.

In the SEC, Texas and Tennessee are Nos. 6 and 7, respectively, and Texas A&M is up to No. 11. LSU dropped nine spots to No. 16 after a loss to the Aggies, and Ole Miss remained No. 18 after beating Oklahoma. Vanderbilt dropped out of the poll after losing at home to the Longhorns.

Mizzou last team in AP poll

Missouri football is the No. 25 team in this week’s AP Top 25, dropping four spots. Like the coaches poll, it is the Tigers’ lowest ranking of the season.

Mizzou has not been unranked in the AP poll since Week 4 of the 2023 season.

Alabama climbed one spot to No. 14 for beating Mizzou. Georgia (2), Texas (6), Tennessee (7), Texas A&M (10), LSU (16), Ole Miss (19) also were in the poll from the SEC.
