DeVonta Smith contract details: Former Alabama football star becomes top 10-paid WR in NFL
DeVonta Smith is not leaving the City of Brotherly Love anytime soon.
On Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles announced that it has signed the former Alabama football star wide receiver to a three-year, $75 million contract extension while also exercising the fifth-year option in his NFL rookie contract.

With the move, the Eagles have locked up Smith to be part of what is expected to be one of the NFL's most elusive offenses this season. It includes fellow Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Saquon Barkley, receiver A.J. Brown and tight end Dallas Goedert.
The Eagles moved up to the No. 10 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft to take Smith with the team's first-round draft pick that season. Since then, the 2021 Heisman Award winner has quickly become one of the NFL's top wide receivers, recording over 1,000 receiving yards in each of the last two seasons.

According to The Philadelphia Inquirer's Eagles beat reporter Jeff McLane, Smith's contract extension with the Eagles is for three years and $75 million. Of the $75 million, $51 million of it is guaranteed, according to several reports. According to to NFL Network inside Ian Rapoport, the Eagles have also exercised Smith's fifth-year option on his rookie contract so with the new contract extension and that, he is now under contract through the 2028 season.

Average Annual Value (AAV): $25 million (T-4 among WRs)
Guarantees: $51 million (No. 9 among WRs)
Using Over The Cap as the database, Smith's three-year, $75 million contract makes him the eighth-highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL behind Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill, Brown, Amari Cooper, Calvin Ridley, Keenan Allen and Cooper Kupp.
He is tied for fourth-highest average annual value at $25 million per year with Brown. and ninth in total guaranteed money.
