Detroit Tigers announce Home Plate Club as part of new premium seating at Comerica Park

The Detroit Tigers have wanted to create premium seating experiences for fans at Comerica Park for at least a few years.

It's finally happening.

There will be two new premium seating experiences coming to Comerica Park in the 2025 season, the Tigers announced Thursday morning, describing the project in a news release as "some of the most significant upgrades to the fan experience since the ballpark opened" in 2000.

The highlight of the project is an exclusive Home Plate Club, and the second portion of the project is new loge boxes. Construction will start in 2024, beginning with pre-construction work in a few weeks, but the project won't be completed until 2025.

"The announcement of our Home Plate Club and Loge Boxes showcases our organization's ongoing commitment to providing a first-class fan and player experience," said Ryan Gustafson, president and CEO of Ilitch Sports + Entertainment. "Our goal is to continue investing and creating a variety of best-in-class experiences for all fans. Adding exclusive, premium seating options is feedback we've heard constantly, and we are thrilled to unveil these exciting upgrades during the 2025 season."

The Home Plate Club is a 13,000-square-foot space for fans seeking a high-end experience. It will be built beneath the stands and located on the service level between the two clubhouses, featuring direct access to new premium seats that will be installed.

The Tigers will remove 490 seats behind home plate — from dugout to dugout — to insert 350 premium seats in that area, which will be in front of the new cross-aisle.

The upgraded seating behind home plate will be completed for the first game of the 2025 season at Comerica Park, but the full Home Plate Club experience won't be ready until the summer.

A total of 520 to 550 people will have access to the Home Plate Club during games. The total comes from the 350 premium seats in front of the cross-aisle and the 140 seats behind the cross-aisle, plus the seats in the loge boxes.

The loge boxes — a four-person mini-suite — provide a semi-private game-viewing experience for fans located in front of the Tiger Den seats, with a privacy wall that encloses the seats from other fans. Fans sitting in the loge boxes will have access to the Home Plate Club before the game and during the game.

The Tigers are also upgrading the visitors weight room, other clubhouse spaces and the umpire lounge as part of the construction for the Home Plate Club.
