Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers: Time, TV and more for Thanksgiving Day game
America has become quite familiar with the Detroit Lions playing on Thanksgiving. But what the nation is not used to is the Lions being one of the best teams in the entire NFL.
For the first time since 1962, the Lions improved to an 8-2 record after beating the Chicago Bears in a crazy, back-and-forth game in Week 11.
It was the exact type of win Lions fans have been watching go the other way for decades, but as our' Jeff Seidel wrote, they displayed the exact type of resiliency this team prides itself on.
It will be a quick turnaround for the Lions after the enthralling win, with another division matchup on Thursday against the Green Bay Packers. This will be the second time this season the two squads have faced off on Thursday, with the Lions putting together one of their most impressive performances of the season in a 34-20 win at Lambeau Field.
The Packers have had a bit of an up-and-down year in their first season without Aaron Rodgers. Sitting at 4-6, the Packers have yet to pick up a signature win, but beating the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday may have been their best of the season, so they're certainly not playing terribly.
The Packers' offense could be politely described as mediocre, with their passing offense ranking 20th and their rushing attack 22nd in total yards. They excel on the defensive side of the ball, allowing the seventh-fewest yards in the NFL and 10th-fewest yards per attempt.
