Detroit Lions punter Jack Fox named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Dan Campbell said Monday it would be hard for anyone to "play any better than" Jack Fox did as a punter in the Detroit Lions' win over the Arizona Cardinals last week, and the NFL agreed.

Fox was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week on Wednesday for his performance against the Cardinals, when he landed four of his five punts inside the Arizona 20-yard line and helped the Lions control field position late in a close game.

Fox pinned the Cardinals inside the 12-yard line and did not allow a return on any of his three punts in the fourth quarter. The Cardinals scored just three points in the second half.

"Special teams came up big that second half playing field position," Campbell said after the game. "Jack Fox had a couple of really big-time punts."

A Pro Bowler in 2020, Fox is the third Lions punter to win a player of the week award, joining Sam Martin (three times) and Jim Arnold.

Fox is netting 44 yards per punt this season with eight punts inside the 20, tied for fourth-most in the NFL.
