Detroit Lions get into holiday spirit with team-inspired Valentine's Day cards

No one made the hearts of Detroit residents more full this year than the Detroit Lions, who delivered a historic season in 2023, and like a good partner, they delivered another gift on Valentine's Day.

In the spirit of love, the Lions posted a series of football-inspired Valentine's Day cards on all of their social media platforms with specific inside jokes alongside some of the team's most popular players, with a caption of"We love you, #Lions fans."

The cards feature fan favorites such as left tackle Taylor Decker while he was making his signal to report as an extra eligible blocker, a hat tip to the Week 17 refereeing fiasco against the Cowboys, captioned "reporting my love for you." Others include a picture of Amon-Ra St. Brown captioned "you're a catch," defensive tackle Benito Jones arriving in overalls and a Cowboy hat captioned "giddy-up," safety Ifeatu Melifonwu making the interception to seal the NFC North title captioned "I pick you," center Frank Ragnow in action captioned "you're the center of my world," reserve offensive lineman Dan Skipper reporting as an extra blocker captioned "you make my heart skip."

Jameson Williams' flip into the end zone against the Saints was highlighted, captioned "I'm head over heels for you," while tight end Brock Wright was also included with the caption "you're the Wright one for me," and rookie quarterback Hendon Hooker delivered a message of "I'm hooked on you."

On X, formerly Twitter, the Lions included a few other Valentine's cards highlighting other players like Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery, and Graham Glasgow. Goff's Valentine's card was a picture of him warming up captioned "Goffering you my love." Gibbs had a big smile with the caption of "Gibbs-ing you all my love," while Montgomery was photographed in action hitting a rushing hole with the caption "I'm in a rush to see you." Glasgow's picture played into the holiday the most, using a picture of him blowing a kiss in a postgame celebration with the simple caption of, "Kisses" to end the post.

If you want a Valentine's Day card inspired by head coach Dan Campbell, head over to another section of the Free Press website, which also got in on the holiday fun with Michigan-inspired cards and puns. Those include one of a smiling Campbell captioned "I'd risk it all for you" in reference to his love for going for it on fourth down. Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson also made the cut with a caption of, "I'll always come back," which refers to Johnson's decision to spurn head coaching offers to stay with Detroit for the second straight offseason. The Valentine's Day cards were also posted on the Free Press' social media pages.
