Detroit Lions fans 'heartbroken' after NFC title loss, still 'proud' in team's season
The Detroit Lions were so close to their first Super Bowl appearance. Tantalizingly close.
But instead, the 2023 season is over after the Lions collapsed in the second half to blow a 17-point lead and fall to the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 in the NFC championship game.
After the game was over, Lions fans were in shock as they reacted to the collapse that ended the season. They showered the team with love for completing the most successful Lions season since 1991, but were distraught they couldn't close the door on making this the best season in franchise history.
The rest of the NFL world shared the sorrow with the downtrodden Detroit fans, offering their sympathy for more pain the fanbase has to endure.

Since he became the head coach, MCDC has ALWAYS been aggressive.
It’s the only reason we’re here. It’s the only reason we’re relevant.
He stayed consistent. He trusted his players. It didn’t work out.
I’m bummed aht. But that was the greatest Lions season I’ve ever seen in…— Evan Fox (@evanfoxy) January 29, 2024
- WR Drops
- Gibbs fumble
- Vildor dropped pick
-Lack of execution. Didn't have a problem with DC going for it on 4th down. That's the identity of this team. That's what got them here.
-Great year, hate that it ended this way. #AllGrit— DLFP (@DLFPtweets) January 29, 2024
I think the Lions drops and fumble were a way bigger issue than Dan Campbell's decision to go for it on 4th down. While that may have contributed to the overall result, that other stuff is way way worse.

I feel so bad for Lions fans. They had this game. Could have won it. Should have won it. Just imploded in the 2nd half. Man.
