Detroit Lions elevate wide receivers Tim Patrick, Allen Robinson from practice squad

The Detroit Lions elevated veteran wide receivers Tim Patrick and Allen Robinson from the practice squad to the game-day roster for Sunday’s contest against the Arizona Cardinals.

Patrick caught two passes in his Lions debut last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while Robinson has not played since signing in late August.

On Friday, Lions coach Dan Campbell reiterated that Patrick could be a factor in the receiving rotation going forward.

NFL teams can elevate a player up to three times from practice squad before they have to sign them to the 53-man roster.

“If somebody wants to poach (him off the practice squad), then we have a decision to make,” Campbell said. “But until then, the plan would be to elevate and use him. We expect to use him more this week. He’s had a good week at practice. I like him, I really do. He fits us just the way he is, the way he works, his attention to detail, and he brings a little something different to us. He’s a big guy. He’s a big target, he’s physical, he’s tough, so I’m glad he’s here.”

The Lions offense has sputtered through two weeks, averaging just 18 points per game in regulation.

Last week, they scored one touchdown in seven red-zone possessions. Both Patrick and Robinson have size to help as goal-line receivers.
