Detroit Lions' C.J. Gardner-Johnson not ready yet, but Jason Cabinda activated from IR
C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s return will have to wait at least one more week, but the Detroit Lions are shuffling their roster ahead of Saturday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
The Lions waived cornerback Chase Lucas and linebacker Trevor Nowaske on Thursday and activated fullback Jason Cabinda from injured reserve.
They have one open roster spot.

Gardner-Johnson, who has not played since Week 2 because of a torn pectoral muscle and was ruled out for Saturday, could return for next week’s regular season finale against the Minnesota Vikings. He remains on injured reserve, inside his 21-day return-to-practice window.
The Lions also have to add kicker Michael Badgley to the 53-man roster before next week.

Along with Gardner-Johnson, the Lions ruled tight end Brock Wright (hip) and linebacker James Houston (ankle) out for Saturday, and listed top cornerback Cam Sutton (toe) as questionable.
The Lions started Houston’s practice window Thursday. He has not played since fracturing his fibula in a Week 2 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
