The New Orleans Saints looked relatively good on the injury front heading into their Week 8 matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers, however, some notable players got knocked out of the game due to new or residual injuries. This has somewhat been the case for the Saints as of late, and unfortunately is a recurring theme of the past few weeks of football. Head coach Dennis Allen provided multiple updates regarding these injuries, their severity, and other information during his media availability on Monday. Here are the current updates:

Juwan Johnson

First up we have Juwan Johnson, who was being evaluated for a concussion during the Week 8 matchup with the Chargers. Ultimately, Dennis Allen said he came in "asymptomatic" on Monday, and that he has cleared and is good to go for practice this week. This is good news for the Saints on the injury front, as they have been dealt a few concussions already in the past season and a half.

Marshon Lattimore

Marshon Lattimore's injury was confirmed twice as a hamstring injury both post-game and again on Monday, with the clarification that it is the same hamstring injury as the one he suffered in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos. This is slightly concerning given the Saints' history of soft tissue injuries lingering, though hopefully he will be able to recover and get things back on track.

Kendre Miller

Kendre Miller also suffered a hamstring injury in Week 8, which is now the third of his career and second of the year. However, Miller suffered this injury on the opposite side of the one he had earlier this year, which can be viewed as good or bad. It is good that it is not a recurring injury already in his short career on the one leg, but it is bad as he is dealing with more soft tissue injuries which he has experienced alot of so far.

Bub Means

One of the more negative updates from this media appearance was the one on rookie wide receiver Bub Means, who has a high ankle sprain, and according to Allen will likely miss some time. There is the possibility that he goes on IR depending on the severity of the sprain, and we will hopefully be provided with further clarification later in the week, but the hope would be to avoid this as the Saints are already woefully injured at the position.

Derek Carr

Finally, Allen provided an update on quarterback Derek Carr, saying that he did some throwing Monday, and will be expected to practice on Wednesday. In addition, Allen said he is optimistic that Carr will be able to play against the Carolina Panthers in Week 9. With the Saints struggling at the quarterback position lately, getting Carr back could help, we will see however as he struggled before the injury for a few games as well.
