What Deion Sanders, Colorado players are saying about Kansas State

Sitting strong at 4-1 (2-0 Big 12), the Colorado Buffaloes will welcome the 4-1 (1-1 Big 12) Kansas State Wildcats to Folsom Field on Saturday for a massive matchup between conference title hopefuls.

Colorado, aided by its improved rushing attack and run defense, is riding a three-game winning streak heading into its toughest game of the season thus far. Kansas State is ranked No. 19 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll with quarterback Avery Johnson and running back DJ Giddens leading the charge.

Ahead of Saturday's 8:15 p.m. MT kickoff (ESPN), Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, defensive ends coach Vincent Dancy, running back Dallan Hayden, defensive tackle Chidozie Nwankwo, and defensive ends Taje McCoy and Samuel Okunlola each spoke with the media. Here's what they had to say:

“They changed their name to the Dylan Edwards? That’s what the team is called now? The Dylan Edwards? We aren’t playing against Dylan Edwards. We are playing against a darn good football team. Dylan just happens to be on their team.”

"We expect the results when we put in the work. I just don't want it going to their heads. But we shouldn't be surprised of where we are. We should be appreciative and understanding of what allowed us to be where we are, but it shouldn't be no surprise to you. When it's a surprise, you get kind of discombobulated. You take things wrong instead of really looking at it and dissecting why you are where you are."

"Shilo is ready. He's practicing. He's full-go. He has a rubber cast on. He's doing his thing. I can't wait to see him back there because he and Cam (Silmon-Craig), they're unbelievable together. Carter has done a wonderful job, got a lot of experience, and he's in on some packages as well. But Shilo is full-go. We should have the entire starting defense this week."

Dallan Hayden on Colorado's mindset

“Everybody on the team I feel like has a pro mindset. Everyone bashes us for bringing in a bunch of portal guys here, but we brought a bunch of portal guys that came from winning programs.”

"We are definitely getting stronger each and every week. Seeing different blocking schemes is getting us better."
