What should Damian Lillard do off the court in Milwaukee his first month? Fans have ideas
Thousands of Milwaukee Bucks fans crowded the plaza in front of Fiserv Forum on Saturday afternoon, eager to see point guard Damian Lillard.
Lillard, 33, a seven-time all-NBA player and all-star, arrived about 5:30 p.m. and stepped onto the plaza where he was greeted by Bucks President Peter Feigin, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley and Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson.
Lillard received loud cheers from the crowd, though some were left disappointed when he did not speak or stop for handshakes or high-fives.
It's no secret that Milwaukee fans want Lillard and Antetokounmpo to lead the Bucks to another championship title.
Lillard is known as a scoring machine, averaging 25.2 points per game throughout his 11-year career, including 32.2 last season. Already, his arrival has boosted ticket prices for the Bucks' home opener and increased demand for season-ticket packages.
As fans waited for Lillard to arrive Saturday afternoon, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel asked for their thoughts on what he should do off the court in his first month in Milwaukee.
After all, he's played for the Portland Trail Blazers for the past 11 years.
Here's what they had to say:
Swap the West Coast for the Fresh Coast
Fresh Coast is the best coast, right?
"He has to go to the lakefront," said Jaylen Boykin, 22, of Racine.
"That's our staple," she added.
Her mom, Tara White, and her siblings, Amare McIntosh, 11, and Teana McIntosh, 6, nodded in agreement.
Milwaukee has about 10 miles of shoreline along Lake Michigan, one of the five Great Lakes, and is home to Lakeshore State Park with stunning waterfront and cityscape views.
Root, root, root for the Brewers
Yes, Dame is here for basketball, but Wisconsin's pro sports teams have a rich tradition of supporting one another.
Multiple fans suggested he check out a Milwaukee Brewers game as the team heads into the playoffs.
At least one said he shouldn't waste any time with the Brewers taking on the Chicago Cubs on Saturday night.
"It's a bitter rivalry," said Douglas Page, 26.
Page and his brother, Bryan Page, 28, both of Lake Villa, Illinois, are lifelong Bucks fans. They pointed out that Antetokounmpo has an investor stake in the Brewers, while Christian Yelich and other Brewers players have shown up for the Bucks' playoff games.
Eat. And then eat some more.
Milwaukee has no shortage of amazing restaurants. The Journal Sentinel's dining critic Rachel Bernhard even put together a curated list a few weeks ago for new Milwaukee Brewer Mark Canha, a self-professed foodie.
Fans had more suggestions, including the 3rd St. Market Hall just a few blocks away from Fiserv Forum. The food hall features a variety of vendors with tacos, pizza, pho and more.
Dominique Carter, 28, and Puertokae LaGrant. Jr., 28, both of Milwaukee, were all about the burgers.
"I know this burger joint called Fast, Fresh and Delicious," Carter said, praising the quality of the food. Fast, Fresh and Delicious is located at 3821 W. Center St. and also operates a food truck.
"Speaking of burgers, Fatty Patty, he's got to try that," LaGrant added.
The Fatty Patty is a food truck that specializes in homemade Zabiha halal gourmet burgers.

The new Bucks star has a 5-year-old son and 2-year-old twins, a girl and boy. Fans were thinking of them, too, with suggestions to visit Betty Brinn Children's Museum and the Milwaukee County Zoo.
"We have one of the best zoos in the country," said Jamie Jackson, 35, of Milwaukee. "It's super underrated."
For a seasonal outing when the kids have a babysitter, Jackson and Amber Jackson, his wife, recommended "The Hill Has Eyes" haunted trail and experience at The Rock in Franklin.
The couple also is proof that Fiserv Forum can be a special place, too: They were married by the Bucks statute on the plaza on Nov. 29, 2022.
"It's so galvanizing to look around and see all the diversity of people," Jackie Jackson said. "It's the one thing bringing everybody together."
