Dallas Turner 40 time: Alabama football LB runs 4.47 in 40-yard dash at 2024 NFL Combine

Alabama's Dallas Turner headed to Indianapolis for the 2024 NFL combine as one of the top defensive players in this year's NFL draft class after a strong three-year career with the Crimson Tide.

The Crimson Tide linebacker, who is ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr.'s No. 10 overall prospect in this year's draft class, continued his momentum from this past season while continuing to turn more heads Thursday at the combine posting a time of 4.47 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

According to NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah, Turner measured in at 6-2, 247 pounds with an 83-inch wingspan. Jeremiah also noted that Turner posted a vertical jump of 40 ½ inches.

Turner has received a prospect grade score of 6.48 from NFL.com, which denotes that Turner will "become a good starter within two years."

Turner had a blistering unofficial time of 4.47 seconds in his first attempt in the 40-yard dash. It was the best time of the day at the time of running.

He was later overtaken by NC State's Payton Wilson, who ran a 4.44 moments later.

Turner emerged as a big component of Alabama's defense during the 2023 season, while also earning SEC Defensive Player of the Year honors by the conferences coaches. He finished with career-high numbers in total tackles (53), tackles for a loss (15.5), sacks (11) and forced fumbles (two) in 2023.

  • Career: 120 total tackles, 33.5 tackles for a loss, 23.5 sacks, two forced fumbles

  • 2023: 53 total tackles, 15.5 tackles for a loss, 11 sacks, one pass deflected and two forced fumbles

  • 2021: 30 total tackles, 10 tackles for a loss and 8.5 sacks

Dallas Turner NFL draft projections:

Turner is projected as a first-round pick in April's draft. The former Tide linebacker is ranked the No. 10 prospect in this year's draft class by ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr, who also has Turner as the No. 1 outside linebacker.
