Dallas defeated the No. 4 seed Los Angeles Clippers in six games in the first round. Oklahoma City swept the No. 8 seed New Orleans Pelicans in four games.

The Thunder won three of the four games in the regular season series.

The Thunder have home court advantage in the series and host games 1, 2, 5 and 7 in the seven-game series, with the Mavericks hosting games 3, 4 and 6.
