Cowboys star Dak Prescott off 'pitch count' after shoulder injury: 'We're just playing ball'
It sounds like Dak Prescott is back to normal.
Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen More said Thursday that Prescott is off a pitch count and “looked great” after dealing with a right shoulder injury throughout the preseason.
“We’re just playing ball at this point,” Moore said, via ESPN’s Todd Archer. “We’re not looking at anything from a limitation standpoint … From his standpoint, we’re getting ready for the regular season and Tampa Bay.”
Prescott first strained his shoulder in July, and has missed all of Dallas’ preseason games so far recovering from it. Head coach Mike McCarthy said last week that Prescott likely won’t get to see the field at all in the preseason, including their final game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
Instead, Prescott is expected to start for their season opener against the Buccaneers on Sept. 9, where they’re listed as a +7.5 underdog on BetMGM.
Though that will be Prescott’s first live action since he suffered a gruesome leg injury early last season, both he and Moore sound confident that Prescott will be ready in time.
"I think we all love where he's at," Moore said, via the Cowboys. "Obviously, you'd love to have these opportunities to practice in training camp, to have played last year more than he ended up playing.
“But we're ready to just go play football, I think everyone is. He's worked his tail off, done everything he could possibly do, and we're just going to go for it."
