Cowboys' Trevon Diggs apologizes to reporter, gifts him can of nuts after tiff
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs apologized to WFAA reporter Mike Leslie after confronting him outside of the locker room following the team's 30-24 Week 8 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
"I shouldn't have reacted the way I reacted. I apologize for that," Diggs said at Cowboys practice Wednesday, per ESPN. "Most of it, caught me at the right time."
Diggs was upset after seeing a social media post from Leslie that seemingly questioned his effort on a second-half reception by George Kittle.

"What is Trevon Diggs doing on this play?" Leslie wrote in a quote tweet on X, formerly Twitter.

Upon seeing the post, Diggs exited Dallas' locker room and angrily approached Leslie.
"That's what you took from that?" Diggs said, as seen in a video of the interaction. "Out of that whole play, that's what you took from that? You don't know football. You can't do nothing that I do. You can't go out there and do nothing. Stay in your lane, buddy. Stop trying me, dog."
At the time, Leslie asked Diggs if he wanted to talk about the play more or explain what he was doing.
"Why don't we talk about 'Deez Nuts?'" Diggs retorted before heading back into the locker room.
NFL TRADE DEADLINE: Targets for five teams that still could be buyers
On Wednesday, Diggs explained to Leslie that he was guarding against a potential Kittle cutback that could have gotten him into the end-zone.
"My man was up the field and I was behind the safeties at the time, so, like, yeah, I was the last line of defense, and I felt like I prevented him from scoring," Diggs said, per ESPN. "I took the highest angle. Yeah, I didn't think that my effort was a problem."
Diggs acknowledged that tackling isn't his strong suit, but said, "I try to do the best I can to the best of my ability."
The 26-year-old cornerback also offered an amusing olive branch to Leslie: a cannister of "Dee's Nuts" Cool Ranch flavored peanuts. Leslie accepted and also apologized to Diggs for misreading what had happened on the play in question.

With the hatchet buried, Diggs acknowledged that his outburst stemmed from frustration that the Cowboys had dropped to 3-4 on the season with the loss.
"It is tough. We're losing. It doesn't feel good. I hate losing. I like to win," Diggs said. "A lot of frustration, yeah, really just frustrated. You want to win so bad and you do everything you can to win and you don't get the win, it's easy to get frustrated."
