Council Rock North names new head football coach
When Brandon Garrett left his position as an assistant football coach at Council Rock North two years ago to become the head coach at New Hope-Solebury, he had no idea how fast he'd find himself back in Newtown.
"I left a great group two years ago at Council Rock North because I wanted to get my feet wet as a head coach," Garrett said.
"I was preparing this whole offseason to go back to New Hope and then I caught wind that the Council Rock North job had opened up and one thing led to another. I went through the whole interview process and was really hoping to get the job, but if I didn't, I would still be a head coach.
Welcome back to Council Rock North, Brandon Garrett
"To be named the head coach at Council Rock North is a great opportunity. Already knowing some of the people there and coaches from other sports will be a big help going forward."
Garrett, a 2013 Pennsbury graduate, met with his former players at New Hope-Solebury on Tuesday and his new players at Council Rock North on Wednesday.
"Things have moved pretty fast," Garrett said. "New Hope-Solebury was very good to me, and I wish them nothing but success."
A history at Council Rock North
"Brandon has great passion and excitement about taking over the football program and he's ready to jump in feet first," Council Rock North athletic director Joe Spera said.
"He has some history here having coached with us a couple of years ago and having someone that knows the school, the community and the area is a bonus."

Room to grow with CR North football
The Holland resident, who was a football and baseball standout for the Falcons, takes over from John Greiner, whose teams went 14-31 from 2019-2023.
"I'm going to use the same kind of approach now as we did at New Hope by trying to grow our numbers," Garrett said. "We have to get kids in the weight room and kids to come out for the team. We need to find the players that want to be there and want to compete and want to get better."
CR North last had a winning season in 2015, when it went 7-4.

"When I applied for the job, people were telling me that I'd be going to a bigger school," Garrett said. "But this is normal for me and what I'm used to.
"I played at Pennsbury and coached at Council Rock North before, so I know what it's like to be around bigger programs and I'm anxious to get started."
