Conor McGregor tries to sell Jerry Jones on fight in AT&T Stadium
Conor McGregor visited with Jerry Jones on the sideline prior to the Dallas Cowboys’ unexpected woodshedding of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and at last we’ve got audio. And what you hear is two alpha dogs colliding … and one coming away the clear winner.
They’re in Jones’ house, to start with, and so Jones has the upper hand from the start. Jones boasts of his overhead sign’s “3 million square feet of capacity” that could make McGregor look “70 feet tall,” and that’s apparently enough to get McGregor salivating.
“It’s a spectacle, this place,” McGregor says. “The Octagon has got to be in the center one day. I’m gonna make that happen.” It’s a tall order, to be sure, but McGregor might be one of the few fighters at the moment who could indeed make that happen.
But then Jones turns away from McGregor, dismissing him even more effectively than Khabib Nurmagomedov did a couple weeks before. (You can see it at the end of the longer video here.) Between that and the awkward attempt at a football throw, it wasn’t the most spectacular of afternoons for McGregor. But at least Jones left a smile on McGregor’s face.
